Visiting UNAIDS Executive Director Mitchel Sidibe has praised Zambia for being the first country in Africa to launch the integrated health situation room which is a computer software based innovation depicting the status of the whole health system in real time. Kenya launched a stand-alone HIV and AIDS situation room in 2015.

Breeze FM Radio station in Chipata, broadcasts to nearly all of Eastern Province, extends its coverage to Serenje in Central Province and crosses the national frontiers into Malawi and Mozambique. The Radio station’s wide reach makes it one of the most attractive forms of mass media to reach any specific target audience within and slightly outside the province.

Nyimba and Vubwi are the only districts in Eastern Province where the radio station’s signal is weak.

Southern Province Minister Edify Haamukale has challenged women to break social norms which expose them to risks such as HIV infection. Dr Haamukale specifically challenged women to start accessing condoms instead of depending on men for the HIV infection barrier.

Dr Haamukale was speaking in Choma on 17 January 2017 when he received a consignment of socially marketed condoms donated by MLife Insurance and Madison Health Solutions handed over by National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (ANC) Acting Director General Mr. Fortune Chibamba.

The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) with support from UNICEF publishes a Newspaper supplement every month called Let’s Talk, dedicated to providing a platform for adolescents to share their life experiences in reproductive health, sexuality and HIV and AIDS related subjects either directly or through third party accounts.

The National HIV/AIDS/STI/TB Council (NAC) has appointed its Director of Programmes Mr Fortune Chibamba as Director General on an interim basis. NAC Chairperson Dr George Tembo disclosed the development this morning, 25th August 2017, in Lusaka when he met both head office based and provincial secretariat staff.
