Zambia first observed the National Voluntary Counselling and Testing Day on June 30 2006. It has since been agreed that the day will be recognized annually as it plays an important role in the HIV response and is in line with the global effect to accelerate HIV and AIDS prevention. The theme for 2010 National VCT Day is “Know your HIV Status and Access Care and Support”

This handbook provides information designed to assist the Provincial AIDS Task Forces (PATFs) and the District AIDS Task Forces (DATFs) in working with civil society.  It outlines the various tasks set for PATFs and DATFs undertaking working with civil society and concludes with some tips on how how to work
with civil society.  The publication has a set of recommended readings and is also accompanied by a CD ROM which contains key reference documents for use when working with civil society.
